Furthermore - in the first months of the current Summer - the State Institute for Nature Protection (SINP) organised seven meetings with the fishermen in various Croatian cities/harbours to increase the awareness of the presence and the conservation needs of cetaceans and sea turtles.
At the end, 27 people participated into the workshops organized in Jelsa, Komiza, Supertar, Vela Luka, Molunat, Cavtat and Podgora.
The lecturers presented NETCET project, the biology and threats of Sea Turtles in the Adriatic Sea and national Protocol of reporting and acting in case of encountering dead, sick or injured strictly protected marine animals, with practical lecture on handling techniques for stranded or injured Sea Turtles.
After each meeting, Guidelines for the first aid to Sea Turtles and Cetaceans were distributed with posters, stickers and T-shirts of the NETCET project.
As final result, all fishermen agree on further collaboration.
