Grado is closely linked to the history of Aquileia - one of the most important Roman outposts in the North/East of Italy during the Roman Empire. Several important historic sites are still visible in the island of Grado as heritage of its glorious past: the archaeological Castrum, the early Christian basilicas, the baptistery and the lapidarium. Nowadays Grado is a city of fishermen. The entire lagoon area also includes protected natural areas.
Beaches, salt water pools, historical sites, nature and landscape, traditional cuisine, bike trails, excellent services make Grado Lagoon a unique place.
